Work on Highway 63 off until July

Twinning work on Highway 63 has now stopped until July 15 to help protect caribou populations during the calving season.

The twinning area is within a caribou protection zone that stretches from just north of Wandering River north to House River. No construction activity is permitted within these zones from March 1 to July 15.

“Part of responsible development is to ensure that we’re able to protect wildlife and in this case it’s threatened caribou populations,” Alberta Transportation spokeswoman Heather Kaszuba explained yesterday.
