This isn’t an unfamiliar story… A large number of workers in Fort McMurray commute from elsewhere in the province/country. Here’s an interesting read from the Kelowna Daily Courier about commuting to work in Fort McMurray.
For the first time in 5 years, the province has accepted the results of our census. The new official population of 116,407, means new funding. The municipality anticipates $2.2 million in new provincial funding.

Ottawa approves $15B Chinese takeover of Nexen . Amid much controversy, it’s now official that the China National Offshore Oil Company has purchased Nexen. Ottawa also approved Malaysian state-owned company Petronas $6 billion purchase of Alberta’s Progress Energy.
